In Memory of Willy Green - wife of Brother John Green

On September 10, 2008, Local 50 lost a very good friend and one of its strongest supporters when John Green’s wife passed away.

Willy, of course, wasn’t her real name, but that’s how everybody knew her and will remember her.

Willy was always the first to help with anything and everything, right along with John, whether it be blowing up balloons before the Labour Day Parade, playing Santa’s Helper at the Children’s Christmas Party, or any other functions where a helping hand might be needed.

In her job with the Canada Pension Plan, Willy went out of her way to assist many of our members and families, making sure applications for all kinds of benefits went through the process smoothly and quickly.

Nothing was ever too menial, too much trouble, too boring, or just plain inconvenient. When Local 50 called, Willy was there and with a smile on her face, no matter what.

As sick as she was this last little while, what upset her most was the thought of not being able to march in the Labour Day Parade, or attend the Retirement Party.

We will always remember her kindness and loyalty, her sunny disposition, and her wonderful sense of humour. She will be greatly missed by her many friends in the Local.

Rest in peace!
